I have mixed feelings about this product...so here goes.Out of the box you get: the drive, power cords, ethernet cord, activation leaflet. This activation leaflet is not an instruction guide, but a fold out that has the following pages: 1) To connect and activate your Cloudstor, go to [URL] 2) One it's activated to go [URL] to access it / share photos/etc. 3) Optional software for Mac or PC. 4) Optional software for mobile phone. In order to make the device work you MUST activate it via the Pogoplug website. The device must be put on your home network with full internet access - so you can not use the device on an isolated intranet. This really forces the point that it's cloud storage on a device you have in your home vs. at a data center somewhere. Think of it as an amazon.com cloud drive that you physically own. Works great. I use Acronis to make image backups to this device once a week. You can just map the network drive instead of using the Pogoplug desktop application. I hooked up the NAS directly to my computer to do the initial backup as it is a lot faster. Incrementals backups will be through wireless to the NAS.On the 2nd Hard Drive that I bought and placed in the NAS (WD 1.5TB Green), I use for syncing folders on my computer with the folders on the NAS. The ActiveCopy capability that is included with the Pogoplug desktop application seemed to work well but it is not very configurable as it continuously syncs and does not delete files that you deleted like a true sync would. Instead I use SyncToy and have it Echo folders on my computer to the NAS every night. Much easy to use and if I delete a file on my computer it will move that file to a "trashbox" recycling bin folder on my NAS that I can delete... But thankfully Buffalo has held true to their statements about updates that address my initial concerns. About 75% improvement with their software and interface. Some things are still buggy with the Pogoplug software, like how photos are categorized by date and not by their folder names. It seems my security concerns are being addressed as it relates to the drove on a shared LAN. I'm still testing out the unit, and have not sent it back. Things seem to being going well so far. So I'm bumping up my review to a 4 star.UPDATE (11/11/12): After about a year or so using this product, I am about to throw it out the window. It's slow, slow, slow! It's also buggy and the app for Android is horrible. It has a music player, but it lacks features and doesn't work well at all.
